Hi—I am Jenny Richardson. I am a candidate for re-election to the Mesa School Board in November 2018. I was born and raised in a large family here in Mesa, and attended K-12 at Emerson, Carson, and Westwood. After graduation, I went away to college, got married to fellow Mesa native Randy Richardson, became an elementary school teacher, and we moved around the country while my husband attended school and served in the military, all while adding 6 children to our family. In 2004, my family and I returned to Mesa, to the very street I grew up on, and now our 6 children have attended or are attending the very same schools we did.
I have always been that Mom—the one helping in the classroom, feeding teachers, teaching Art Masterpiece, running the PTO, and volunteering in the concession stand and at the school carnival. I also served for a couple of election cycles educating voters in Mesa about the need for funding through locally controlled bonds and overrides, and, thankfully, our committee was successful in those elections, and much needed education dollars have greatly benefitted Mesa Public Schools. Because I love Mesa, know the necessity of a strong public school district in our city and board members who can keep all children at the forefront of decisions, I expanded my service to the schools by running for the school board in 2014. I was successful and have worked hard to serve our students, staff and families. I am proud of the work I have done on the Board, and want to continue to be your voice—so I am running again.
